Due to an internal secondment, we are currently looking for an Assistant Accountant to join our high performing finance team based in Birmingham. Although the role is based at our Solihull Head Office, we are currently employing a flexible, hybrid working model.

Accounting for one or more joint ventures, looking after their monthly management reporting and queries from auditors on their statutory accounting. Posting journals as part of the monthly cycle and preparing balance sheet reconciliations that comply with SOx requirements. Looking after intercompany transactional relationships and reporting. Involvement in business engagement with wider business.

Building relationships both internally and externally

Performing tasks associated with the preparation and posting of transactions into the general ledger

Following policy, procedures and processes, ensuring controls are followed and high levels of accuracy are delivered

Following the month end timetable and delivering the month end close on time

Supporting the team leaders and other team members within the wider team

Taking ownership for queries and driving through resolution of issues

Proactively seeks and implements changes to improve accuracy, efficiency and control in processes.

You will be studying towards a professional accountancy qualification or qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA or AAT, want to develop in the role and already have relevant work experience involving monthly management accounts cycle in the UK.  

A motivated individual with a track record of working to tight deadlines under pressure

Can demonstrate what good looks like when it comes to narrating and evidencing journals and balance sheet reconciliations

Self starter, able to prioritise and manage your own workload effectively

Works with a sense of urgency as required and able to escalate issues confidently

Customer service orientated

SAP system knowledge is highly desirable

BlackLine system knowledge is desirable

Effective communication skills with people at all levels of the business

Intermediate to advanced Excel skills due to complex [big] data

Problem solver with a strong analytical ability

Tenacity for accuracy and attention to detail
