We are looking for a Clinical Data Analyst to join our growing team at Cygnet. 

Cygnet was established in 1988. Since then we have developed a wide range of health and social care services for young people and adults with mental health needs, acquired brain injuries, eating disorders, autism and learning disabilities within the UK.

The post holder will work as a Clinical BI Analyst, collating, investigating, analysing and transforming data into readable, goal-driven reports for continued innovation and growth in line with business and clinical needs under working guidance of the Analytics Manager

Working with specific multi-disciplinary staff to deliver processes that influence the quality of reporting output, the post holder will regularly gain insight into their data by physically tracing dataflow and observing its interactions in situ. They will respond in a timely and highly professional manner to planned and unplanned work requests, escalating issues as required.

The post holder will strive for excellence, ensuring the accuracy and consistency of data so it meets the high standards expected for reporting. They will collate information for formal and informal meetings including corporate and clinical governance to support clinical and managerial staff groups through excellent verbal and written communication.

The post holder will manage their objectives to the highest standards and ensure programs of work are delivered.  Knowledge, insight and information will be communicated effectively and the systems and processes underpinning operational function are to be regularly reviewed and cleansed.

The post holder will develop close working relationships with all members of the Digital Services, as well as understanding reporting requirements of the wider clinical workforce.  On occasions, the post holder will be responsible for deputising for their line manager at meetings as requested.

Duties include… 

  • Working closely with the Data and Analytics team and key medical, clinical & nursing stakeholders, the post holder will ensure that all processes and procedures are in place to facilitate the timely and accurate delivery of all mandatory, clinical and information requirements with the responsibility of external statutory information returns.
  • Conduct full lifecycle analysis to include requirements, activities and design.
  • Interpret clinical data and analyse clinical information and results using statistical techniques to identify trends or patterns in complex data sets.
  • Ensure that all report builds and dataset design is clearly and efficiently documented and stored in the allocated locations.
  • Work closely with the D&A team to automate manually produced clinical reports, provide clearly defined requirements, including logic and data sources, and be a key part in the development and UAT cycle. 
  • Develop and implement data analytics and other strategies that optimise statistical efficiency and quality.
  • Identify data quality and data logic issues that are impacting reporting, and work with the Data and Analytics team to resolve.
  • Provide ongoing reports to the clinical workforce and corporate directors working with line management to prioritise against business and information needs.
  • To facilitate the effective use of information including outcomes, data integrity, planning, projects, forecasting, investigations, assessments and risk management.
  • To consider existing complex, multi-departmental clinical dataflows and inform changes harnessing software capabilities to provide the right information at the right time.
  • To apply exceptional attention to detail, ensuring the highest quality and efficient new processes are implemented.
  • Analyse data to answer key questions from clinical staff and directors, or out of self-initiated curiosity, with an eye for what drives business performance, investigating and communicating areas for improvement in efficiency and productivity.
  • Able to professionally communicate with senior clinicians, using relevant clinical terminology as required to understand issues being raised in detail.
  • Apply statistical and analytical knowledge to critically appraise and challenge the results of outputs, ensuring only meaningful information is delivered to the clinical stakeholders.
  • The post holder will have, and continue to gain, appreciation for the working environment of the clinical, financial and performance community, ensuring that outputs meet expectations of stakeholders.
  • Ensure all queries, problems, requests and incidents relating to data and clinical reporting ensuring they are logged, tracked and completed with the appropriate Digital Services team.
  • Ensure all reports builds are easy to follow and require minimal training for end users.  
  • Pro-actively participate in ensuring that service delivered within Cygnet reflects best practice with respect to organisational, NHS and legislative requirements and guidelines.
