Compass Group provide a wide and varied range of Commercial Grounds Maintenance, Horticultural and Landscaping Services to Public and Private Sector Clients including Local Authorities, Government Agencies, Hospitals, Schools, Colleges, Universities, Property Managing Agents, Housing Associations and numerous Commercial Businesses.

About the Role  

You will lead, motivate and direct a team of 11 experienced grounds staff ensuring that your department is delivering a consistent high standard and quality of various grounds maintenance operations to our client base. You will manage, support and effectively deploy and adapt resources to meet service delivery and performance standards

Flexibility within role is essential and candidates must be available to work scheduled hours, including weekends and evenings,

Area of Responsibility

  • Management of Grounds Staff responsible for the ground’s maintenance of approximately 80+ contracts
  • Recruiting and training Field Teams in “Ways of Working” and expected quality standards
  • Daily quality monitoring of Field Teams’ work
  • Line management and performance management of directly employed staff
  • Effectively build and maintain client relationships
  • Providing management reports
  • Responsible for ensuring planned maintenance programmes and service contracts are completed
  • Manage client and contractual relationships in a commercial manner, to gain confidence
  • Owning reporting for the contracts – including financials and the processing of invoices
  • Manage, support and effectively deploy and adapt resources to meet service delivery and performance standards
  • Manging Client conversations to agree and or disagree on works
  • Set out budgets and ensure department performs to budget
  • Ensure works are delivered to the required standards by means of effective use of labour, materials and equipment
  • Ensure work is completed on time, within budget and meets service level agreements
  • Developing a professional and effective team, ensuring objectives are met, monitoring productivity and results to ensure all targets are achieved
  • Understanding and completing all work-related documentation accurately and on time
  • Attending and fully participating in training and appraisal activities as required
  • Providing management information/reporting as required
  • Undertaking additional duties in line with capabilities as required

It is essential that you have a comprehensive knowledge with regards to Health and Safety and CoSHH requirements in the industry, and proven experience in grounds management. You should be adaptable, priortising work and multitasking where needed and work well with a wide range of clients. In addition, you should be solution focused with sound knowledge of the key challenges facing whilst exhibiting excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills and analytical thinking.
