Are you ready to lead and innovate in the dynamic world of nuclear transport solutions? We are seeking a visionary leader to join our team as the Head of Projects, Change, and Oversight. Role Purpose

As a senior leader within the directorate, you will spearhead specific projects, delivery interventions, change programmes, and oversight/assurance activities. Your mission is to future-proof NTS against a range of internal and external threats, delivering bespoke, innovative security solutions that are cost-effective and best in practice. You will ensure core deliverables are efficient, high-quality, and aligned with key milestone plans, while driving troubleshooting activities to achieve these aims.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Projects: Ensure consistency in approach and cross-domain alignment to enhance the safety and security of NTS.
  • Develop Resilience Roadmap: Create key deliverables to bolster NTS’s resilience.
  • Troubleshooting: Address resilience issues and lead troubleshooting activities across NTS.
  • Assurance Regime: Establish and manage a new internal assurance regime, reporting key KPIs/metrics to ensure compliance.
  • Mentorship: Manage and mentor NTS graduates, fostering a positive experience and building Nuclear SQEP.
  • Incident Reporting: Streamline and improve security incident reporting, leading on red flag incidents.
  • Risk Management: Manage security risks, providing regular updates and guidance to the executive team, board, and NDA.
  • HSSEQ Policies: Oversee HSSEQ policies and procedures related to incidents, investigations, and assurance.
  • Emergency Exercises: Lead and manage emergency exercises and learning from experience (LFE) activities.
  • Career Pathways: Create and manage HSSEQ career pathways to address skill gaps and support new staff.
  • Business Continuity: Support business continuity processes and on-call management teams.
  • Horizon Scanning: Identify new threats and recommend preventive measures.
  • Deputise: Act as a deputy for the Director of Nuclear and Assurance and other heads within HSSEQ.
  • Insider Risk: Support and deliver insider risk/threat activities.
  • Training and Expertise: Deliver security training and exercises for customers, including IAEA, WINs, and universities/colleges.
  • PEN Testing: Conduct PEN testing activities and report key KPIs/metrics.
  • Threat and Intelligence: Support threat and intelligence development and trend analysis.
  • Legislation Repositories: Create and manage repositories for legislation, regulation, and international standards.
  • Business Continuity Procedures: Develop procedures for HSSEQ, shipping, rail, and solutions.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Protective Security: Expertise in protective security, NPSA, incident and investigation, counter sabotage, and operational resilience.
  • Health and Safety: IOSH or NEBOSH certification.
  • ISO Standards: Experience with ISO 9001/27001 or equivalent.
  • Risk Management: Proficiency in risk management and threat/intelligence analysis.
  • Project Management: Skilled in using program/project management software or systems.
  • Investigations: Experience in complex investigations across various disciplines.
  • IT and OT Systems: Working knowledge of IT and OT systems.
  • Team Management: Proven ability to manage multidimensional teams.
  • Diplomacy and Networking: Strong diplomacy and networking skills, with international experience being highly desirable.
  • Security Experience: Experience in private and/or public sector security.
  • Quality Systems: Familiarity with quality systems and troubleshooting in HSSEQ areas.
  • Leadership: Experience working with directors, boards, and authorities.
  • Accreditations and Regulations: Knowledge of accreditations and regulations.
  • Performance Improvement: Track record of improving departmental performance.
  • Team Development: Experience in developing team members at all levels.
  • Asset Protection: Expertise in asset/information protection.
  • Policy Creation: Ability to create policies, strategies, and roadmaps.

Special Features

  • Security Clearance: DV required, but can commence initially on SC.
  • On Call: This role will form part of the required NTS On Call rota.
