- Salary: £36,270 + monthly bonus scheme (£4,200 pa)
- Location: Coventry
- Contract type: Permanent
- Hours/shift pattern: 45 hours a week, 5 days over 7
Role Purpose:
As a member of our network of MOT Testers you will play a pivotal role in upholding our commitment to road safety and ensuring the reliability of vehicles on the road. As an essential member of our team, the MOT Tester is entrusted with the responsibility of conducting thorough MOT tests in strict adherence to DVSA regulations. This role holds immense significance in ensuring that vehicles meet stringent safety and environmental standards, contributing to the overall well-being of our community and beyond.
Alongside your day-to-day MOT Testing activities, you will work in a team that is passionate, proud and determined to make a huge contribution to our business operations. This may require you to undertake other task associated with the preparation of vehicles, including but not limited to PDI inspections, vehicle maintenance and repairs and general stock processing.
You will be a confident and effective communicator with the ability to Deliver Outstanding Customer Service, while also possessing strong analytical and problem-solving attributes. Supporting the Business, you will be constantly looking for new ways to improve the team and your operation. Taking inspiration from the latest thinking from within the industry you will act as a real change agent for the transformation and growth of our business.
Qualifications and Skills:
Essential
- 4 Years proven experience as a technician within the motor trade
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance **
Desirable
- DVSA accreditation as an MOT Tester **
- Proven experience as an MOT Tester in a reputable automotive service facility
- In-depth knowledge of current MOT testing regulations and procedures
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and rectify defects efficiently
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in completing paperwork and documentation
- Effective communication skills to interact with customers and team members
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- A commitment to ongoing professional development and staying abreast of industry updates
- Basic computer literacy for completing digital documentation
- Proven experience in a variety of vehicle types and models
- Strong time management skills to ensure timely completion of tests and inspections
- Adaptability to handle a diverse range of vehicles and testing scenarios
- A commitment to upholding ethical standards and ensuring the integrity of the testing process
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust with customers
** For the right candidate we will be able to support with the training and accreditation required, providing all other essential qualification and skills have been met. This would require the successful individual to agree a two-year commitment with Motorpoint, following completion of the training. **
Role responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive MOT Tests:
- Perform thorough MOT tests in accordance with DVSA regulations, ensuring all aspects of vehicle safety and compliance are assessed
- Utilise state-of-the-art testing equipment to evaluate key components such as lights, brakes, steering, suspension, and tyres
Detailed vehicle inspections:
- Conduct detailed inspections to identify defects and issues, providing clear and concise information to vehicle owners
- Use your diagnostic skills to pinpoint and articulate the nature of identified problems, assisting customers in understanding the necessary repairs
Accurate documentation:
- Complete all required paperwork and documentation with precision and within designated timeframes
- Maintain meticulous records of tests, inspections, and any identified defects, adhering to regulatory and organisational standards
Stay informed on regulations:
- Keep abreast of changes in MOT testing procedures and regulations, attending regular training sessions to stay updated on industry best practices
- Proactively seek out and share knowledge with team members to enhance collective expertise
Equipment maintenance:
- Ensure the proper maintenance and calibration of testing equipment to guarantee accurate and reliable test results
- Report any issues with equipment promptly and collaborate with the maintenance team to address concerns efficiently
Customer service excellence:
- Provide exceptional customer service by explaining test results in a clear and understandable manner
- Offer guidance on recommended repairs, answer customer queries professionally, and maintain a customer-centric approach throughout interactions
Team collaboration:
- Collaborate seamlessly with other team members, including technicians and service advisors, to facilitate a smooth workflow and deliver comprehensive automotive services
