Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a National Transport Manager to join the Frontier team at Sandy in Bedfordshire on a permanent basis.
You will oversee the Bulk Fleet Management Team in operating a safe, compliant, and efficient fleet with a well engaged workforce delivering excellent customer service. You will use your analytical skills and business acumen to help further develop the potential of our national fleet of bulk tipping vehicles, transporting grain throughout the country.
We are open to applicants from outside of the transport and agricultural sectors who would like to further their business development within the UK’s leading crop production and grain marketing business.

About You
- Analytical with a forward-thinking approach and excellent planning skills.

- Proficient in relevant transport legislation (training will be provided to the right candidate).
- Experience within a transport/distribution environment would be an advantage but is not essential.
- Able to work with regularly changing priorities
- Must hold a UK driving licence and be happy to travel to other sites, as required
Your Role
As a National Transport Manager your role will involve:
- Managing the Bulk Transport Team, with direct responsibility for the 6 managers.
- Maintaining a strong culture of adherence to health and safety, legislation and trade assurance schemes.
- Developing and supporting the managers in meeting expectations and holding them to account if required.
- Effectively plan & deliver workforce requirements 12 months in advance, ensuring downtime is at a minimum.
- Planning vehicle placements throughout the country to suit workflows and to maximise efficiency.
- Forming a national overview of company workflows, identifying opportunities for the fleet, challenging current working practices as required.
- Developing a good understanding of the company’s grain planning systems to show potential work streams.
- Managing the profitability of the bulk fleet using company reports in-line with company expectations, identify issues or improvements required and addressing them.
- Managing our 3rd party work contracts, maintaining current routes and identifying/developing any further potential routes.
- Ensuring drivers are being managed effectively by utilizing a fair and consistent approach.
- Effectively managing the availability of vehicles.
