The Opportunity
As a Network Engineer at EDF Renewables UK & Ireland, you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting and enhancing our corporate and operational networks.
Your expertise will ensure these networks are secure, reliable, and optimized to meet business needs. You’ll collaborate closely with colleagues across the EDF Group and our Asset Operations team, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
This role will require travel to EDF Renewables sites across the UK and Ireland, providing hands-on support and oversight to our growing infrastructure.

What you’ll be doing
You will work with IT network engineers to design, secure, and optimize UK & Ireland IT networks.
- Tackle and resolve network issues with speed and precision.
- Empower the IT team with top-tier networking support.
- Put networks to the test—routinely and after fixes.
- Lead projects with confidence, driving success from start to finish.
- Create crystal-clear network documentation for seamless operations.

What do you need to be great at this role?
You will be an experienced Network Engineer with 10+ years of experience, possessing accreditations and expertise in networking systems, including Cisco and Fortinet.
You should have experience working in both IT and OT environments and the ability to analyse and report on data trends to predict system capacity and thresholds. Familiarity with ITIL practices and methodologies is essential, along with a full, clean UK driving licence to accommodate travel requirements.
You will have knowledge of networking technologies such as WAN, LAN, NAT, DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, SWG, Routing, Switching, Firewalls, MPLS, VRFs, BGP, OSPF, QoS, SNMP, ADSL, SDN, Cabling, Racking, Technical Drawing, and Monitoring.
Additionally, experience with WiFi 6, 4G/5G, WDS, Mesh, MIMO, Roaming, AP Planning/Survey & Design, VPN, IPSec, L2T2, DPI, IPS, SSO, SD-WAN, Proxy, SSL inspection, ACL, and Bandwidth control is beneficial.
You must have strong stakeholder engagement skills across all levels, the ability to integrate into a team and build strong relationships with internal customers and third parties, and the capability to operate effectively within a matrix team comprising technical and non-technical members.
Strong organisational skills, excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, analytical problem-solving abilities, and a proactive approach are key to success in this role.
You should also be able to provide technical leadership to optimise IT infrastructure performance.

Location: Based from one of our offices with the UK Durham, London, Edinburgh or Cardiff. We’re proud to offer a Flexible First approach to work, meaning you can work comfortably from home with our offices as your base location. This role does require travel to our sites on an ad hoc basis.
