Overview

Thank you for your interest in a role at the MOPAC, and we are excited to hear about your experiences.

Join us to make London a safer city for all.

Do you want to play a role in supporting the Mayor of London and Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime to hold the Metropolitan Police Service to account on behalf of Londoners?

Are you passionate about driving the reform of a globally recognised police force and being at the forefront of shaping the future of policing?

The Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) is the organisation through which the Mayor of London exercises his role as the Police and Crime Commissioner for London and is led by the Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime (DMPC). MOPAC undertakes a broad range of statutory duties and works closely with the Mayor of London, Deputy Mayor and Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) to deliver the priorities that will create safer London communities.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join MOPAC’s Directorate of Strategy and MPS Oversight to support the delivery of one of the organisation’s principal statutory duties of holding the MPS to account for its efficiency and effectiveness.

Following the publication of the Baroness Casey Review into the culture and standards of the MPS in March 2023, MOPAC has renewed the oversight framework through which it holds the MPS to account to help drive the far-reaching systematic and cultural reforms that the Commissioner of the Met has committed to deliver. Specifically – MOPAC has established the new London Policing Board, chaired by the Mayor and made up of a diverse range of independent and ex officio members, to improve the openness and transparency of how the MPS is held to account on behalf of Londoners.

Oversight Support Officer Responsibilities

Working as part of the wider Oversight Governance Team, the Oversight Support Officer will provide high quality administrative support to deliver MOPAC’s oversight framework, with a particular focus on supporting the London Policing Board and its members.

You will be responsible for working closely with the London Policing Board Secretariat and Oversight Governance Team to arrange meetings with external stakeholders, briefings, visits and development opportunities for London Policing Board members, and maintaining systems and processes to support the delivery of the London Policing Board, including taking minutes of internal and external meetings and progressing actions.

This post is suited to someone who is organised, pays excellent attention to detail, and who can manage tasks, schedules and information effectively. The role holder will also be expected to work effectively on their own as well as with others and be flexible in response to changing priorities.

This is a fixed term position for two years. This is a great development opportunity for someone who wants to work on a high-profile organisational priority, be part of a supportive and high performing team, and enjoys working collaboratively to achieve positive outcomes for citizens.
