Hybrid Working

We have a Hybrid approach to working here at Engine – our preference is that you’re located within a commutable distance of one of our offices so that we’re able to interact and collaborate in person. We don’t like to mandate how much you visit the office and work from home, that’s to be agreed upon between you and your manager.

About the Role

The Risk & Compliance Team is a key element of the Engine proposition ensuring that Engine continues to meet the Group risk standards and that our clients can be confident we identity and mitigate risk in a clear and timely manner.

This role would suit an individual who is proactive, wants to be empowered and is looking to be a part of a small, focused and multi-disciplinary team. Someone who has a broad general knowledge of banking risk, compliance and data protection who would enjoy being involved in both supporting project delivery, thrive in a fast paced environment of do-ers and ensuring that the necessary risk management and governance is in place and delivering as planned to support the timely identification and mitigation of risks.

Working with the Director of Compliance and Legal colleagues to ensure we remain in compliance with current relevant regulation (UK and Client Jurisdictions) and to support, challenge and guide Engine in delivering fantastic SaaS products and services in line with the relevant requirements whilst operating within its own and Group Policies and Risk Appetites.

Responsibilities

  • Leading role in ensuring that Risk, Data and Compliance requirements are met across Engine by engaging with colleagues to ensure the delivery and embedding of policies and procedures 
  • Ensuring that Engine delivers its Governance and Assurance obligations in a timely manner including the collation and presenting of MI to Engine and Group to support aggregated reporting.   
  • Undertake risk analysis reviews, due diligence exercises, deliver Risk Assurance reporting and DPIA reviews as required
  • Deputise for the Engine Director of Compliance as necessary
  • Deliver Engine aggregated Reporting, MI, Papers and sharing knowledge across the Starling Group structure 

Requirements

  • Broad range of Regulatory, Risk, Compliance, Assurance and Data Protection experience, ideally gained with a regulated financial services entity
  • Track record of delivery by taking ownership and driving tasks to completion    
  • Confident communicator at all levels and with good interpersonal skills experienced in engaging with internal and external stakeholders 
  • The ability to challenge in a positive manner and deliver pragmatic decisions in a commercial context

Our interviews are conversational and we want to get the best from you, so come with questions and be curious. In general you can expect the below, following a chat with one of our Talent Team:

  • 45 min Compliance Director
  • 45 min with some other members of the Engine team
