Are you a Certified Scrum Master looking for a new challenge within a dynamic organisation?

Can you facilitate agile working and continuous improvement across matrix technical teams?

Here at Saga, you will be working in the Data and Analytics team. This is a key role in the delivery of our data and analytics change programme, where you will oversee and manage the day-to-day delivery of the scrum delivery team. You will be responsible for building relationships with product owners and the business approach to Agile principles within data change.

Reporting to the Director of Data Engineering and working with other colleagues across Saga, you will facilitate discussion, decision making and conflict resolution in pursuit of product delivery.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the scrum delivery team ensuing the effective approach for agile values and sprint outcomes as well as managing the pipeline of change work to be delivered. We need a Scrum Master who is capable for the removal of obstacles, building relationships with product owners and delivering agile principles within a technology change environment.

*You will be required to visit the Saga Hub monthly, either Ashford or London.

The start date for this role will be 1st June 2024.

Role Responsibility

Our Scrum Master will ensure the team lives and breathes agile values and principles whilst overseeing and managing the day-to-day delivery of the scrum teams. Here are the key areas of responsibilities: 

  • To train, mentor and support the scrum teams to follow agile values, principles and practices.
  • Mange incoming demand prior to sprint and ensure sprint outcomes are of the highest possible standards.
  • To schedule and facilitate scrum events, meetings, and decision-making processes.
  • Continuously monitor progress and performance and help teams to highlight and make improvements.
  • Ensure the proper use of collaborative processes and removing impediments for the scrum team.
  • Manage the tracking of project processes, deliverables, and financials.
  • Preparing and presenting status reports to stakeholders.
  • Lead and embody the Saga values through high levels of collaboration, curiosity, and empathy in pursuit of high-quality delivery and scrum performance.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for candidates who are CSM’s with experience and knowledge of working on large scale data strategy projects – (data warehousing / architecture) within a highly skilled technical team. Our new Scrum Master will need to demonstrate the following skills and agile techniques;

  • A competent Agile practitioner, with 3+ years working with multi-disciplined teams.
  • Excellent technical communication skills.
  • Agile development methodologies.
  • Change methodologies on delivery and analysis.
  • Excellent knowledge of Scrum techniques and artifacts (such as definition of done, user stories, automated testing, backlog refinement)
  • Problem-solving and conflict-resolution ability.
  • Must have experience working with JIRA.
