The Role:

The Senior Bid Writer will drive our strategic growth by leading initiatives with national commissioners to secure and renew NHS contracts and new businesses. Collaborating closely with the Managing Director and cross-functional teams, this role will inform and execute our UK commercial strategy and budget, continuously refining our bids model to support annual growth targets. They will cultivate and manage relationships with key NHS stakeholders, ensuring meticulous tracking in our CRM system. The role also encompasses writing and overseeing the end-to-end bidding process, from identifying opportunities and developing competitive bid responses to managing internal resources and fostering collaboration across teams. Additionally, as a leader within the organisation, they will provide guidance and mentorship to the Bids team, supporting their professional development and alignment with our strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • An expert bid writer

  • Lead initiatives with national commissioners, focusing on the growth and renewal of NHS services contracts.

  • Collaborate with the Managing Director and cross-functional teams to set and execute the UK tender strategy and budget.

  • Continuously refine our commercial model to support annual growth.

  • Build and maintain relationships with key health system stakeholders, ensuring robust tracking within our CRM system (Salesforce).

  • Lead the writing and submission of tender responses for national and local contracts.
    Bid Management responsibilities: 

  • Identify and pursue bidding opportunities.

  • Develop and submit competitive bid responses within strict deadlines.

  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Oversee the bidding process to ensure timely completion.

  • Integrate subject matter experts into the bid process.

  • Attend relevant events to stay informed and build connections.

  • Host proposal briefings and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
    Line Management: 

  • Oversee and mentor the Bids team to align with strategic goals.

  • Support the continued professional development of the Bids Team.

Key Skills:

Essential:

  • Proven track record of securing new or retaining existing NHS contracts.

  • NHS bid writing experience

  • Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Proficiency in analytics and tools for tracking and measuring performance.

  • Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

Desirable:

  • Strong understanding of the NHS and its digital transformation initiatives.

  • Understanding of NHS Frameworks and weight management services

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Business, Marketing or a related field.
  • Proven experience in bid/proposal writing and bid management, preferably within the healthcare sector.
