And right now, we are looking for a Senior Database Administrator to join our Technology Group Operations team specialising in the management of the SQL based platforms used across the group. You will be responsible for the availability, security, performance, and stability of the SQL platforms used across Saga Group. You will achieve this through the adoption of technical expertise and vendor best practice in support of business requirements. 

We are seeking someone with experience in similar role in enterprise organisation with demonstrable knowledge of database design, support, and lifecycle change.

As a Senior Database Administrator your top six responsibilities are:

  • Architecture of the SQL Server configuration.

  • Ongoing performance tuning and optimisation of the SQL database estate.  

  • Ownership of high availability and disaster recovery processes and run books.  

  • Research and application of required security remediation and vulnerability management activities. 

  • Working collaboratively with other Technology professionals to deliver technology programmes, projects and workstreams.

  • Availability and reliability of the SQL estate including high availability techniques, backup, and monitoring.  

  • Proven experience of database design and support 

  • Demonstrable experience of change lifecycle 

  • Experience in similar role in enterprise organisation.

  • Communication skills.  

  • Technical capability in required fields.

  • Prioritisation. 

  • Incident ownership.

  • Mentoring and training.
