Supply Chain Improvement Lead – Indianapolis

We are currently seeking an exceptional customer service professional to join us as an Supply Chain Improvement Lead.

The Supply Chain Improvement Lead is accountable for improvement of supplier delivery of critical parts to support a specific team or customer.  The Supply Chain Improvement Lead will need to clearly understand the policies and procedures of purchasing products in support of requirements within the system.  This indidivual will be responsible for identifying delivery risks that do not fully cover the customer's requirements and action a plan to mitigate all risks.    

Under the guidance of a procurement manager or department manager, the Supply Chain Improvement Lead will support the supply chain specialist and buyers in the escalation of their most critical parts and/or most critical suppliers with purchase requisitions, vendor interface and performance, supplier performance analysis – with an overall focus on improving supplier pricing, performance, and the reduction of supply chain risk.  A key area of focus will be KPI's around customer-focused material critical shortages, the number of parts impacting customer production lines, and risk analysis of supplier gaps.

About You

  • Become familiar with and understand the requirements of the purchasing requirements specific to the customer(s) you will be supporting
  • Develop and apply knowledge of procurement basics, legal requirements and ethical conduct to all purchasing activities
  • Under the guidance of a senior buyer or department manager, learn and become competent in risk assessment of  supplier's orderbook and the impact to customer build schedules
  • Examine and analyze demand to forecast reports to accurately identify gaps in supply chain to improve on
  • Contact suppliers to review areas of improvement in delivery, expedites that would be available, determine availability of materials and resources, and delivery schedule of critical parts.
  • Work in partnership with Supply Chain Specialists and Buyers, in support of all procurement efforts, delivery, and/or quality
  • Work with suppliers in support  of all procurement efforts, delivery, and/or quality, including problem resolution and material expedites
  • Work with Supply Chain Manager to support the customer's need for daily/weekly/monthly communication on the most critical parts impacting customer deliveries
  • Work with Commercial leads or customer management team to clearly identify and communicate the plan around gap mitigation
  • Act as a focal point for the resolution of procurement discrepancies by communicating with Customers and suppliers, interfacing with multiple business and computer systems; and initiating actions related to delivery of parts, support needed for capacity reviews, quality controls and concerns, orderbook escalations, and critical parts.
  • Instruct and advise internal customers regarding the gaps identified, as needed
  • Foster increased productivity and advancement opportunities through personal commitment to professional development, and by practicing continuous improvement of processes
  • Attend company-sponsored meetings or training, as required
  • Travel may be required

Education

Bachelor's degree in related field AND one year of applicable aerospace experience; Certified Supply Chain

Professional (CSCP), Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), and/or Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) is preferred in addition to the bachelor's degree.

Experience

Basic knowledge and experience of purchasing practices and procedures

Basic knowledge of Aerospace materials and products/parts, is preferred

Proven skills in interpreting basic technical specifications and bids, or supply chain management

Previous experience in the skill of establishing and maintaining positive and effective working relationships

Qualification

Strong verbal and written communication skills, with professional daily interaction with internal and/or external customers (as trained)

Ability to analyze and evaluate data, and/or learn to make sound procurement recommendations and decisions

Ability to reproduce established bids and learn to prepare and evaluate new bids

Ability to learn practices and principles of Incora procurement and orderbook policies and government contracting, within training standard training period allowed

Ability to maintain an effective liaison with vendors, management, staff, and co-workers; use personal

Ability to learn and gain knowledge of the integrated procurement and database systems, as well as Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word and Excel, as needed; strong Excel skills required.Experience with JDE a plus.
