Designer And Estimator – York – Huntington

As a Designer and Estimator, your role and remit will be to deliver comprehensive building design, estimating and quotation services with commercial insight and technical accuracy whilst driving margin and efficiencies across the project.

Role Details:
  • Annual salary £35,000 – £40,000 dependent on skills and experience. Plus an annual on target bonus of 5%
  • Role based: New Lane, Huntington, York, YO32 9PT – Once fully trained you can WFH 1-2 days per week.
  • Contract type: Permanent
  • Annual leave of 25 days per annum plus bank holidays and opportunity to buy an additional 5 days each year.

In this role you will be required to:

  • Deliver compliant drawings and accurate quotations that meet building regulations and standards. Work closely with commercial teams to confirm that design solutions align with commercial targets.  
  • Ensure all designs and quotations reflect commercial agreements and customer expectations prior to submission.
  • Prepare and submit detailed, accurate, competitive and professionally presented quotations to customers within agreed timeframe.  
  • Coordinate design input to ensure bid costs are accurate and realistic. 
  • Analyse and benchmark previous schemes against current tenders to inform pricing and design decisions from a commercial perspective.  
  • Attend project meetings and customer interviews as required to support successful bid outcomes and effective order management.
  • Participate in peer reviews of bids prepared by team members, provide independent feedback on accuracy, completeness and competitiveness before final submission.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Minimum GCSE (or equivalent) including Maths and English.
  • Relevant design or technical qualification at a minimum of NVQ Level 3.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects. 
  • Experience in a design or technical role.
  • Proven experience using Auto CAD and Revit.
  • Knowledge of building regulations. 
  • Competent in using Microsoft packages including MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
