Assistant Contract & Performance Manager – Birmingham 

About the job.

Join us at the National Traffic Operations Centre as an Assistant Contract & Performance Manager. You’ll play a vital role in overseeing the National Traffic Information Service (NTIS) agreement, delivered by an external service provider.

This role will be offered on a 12-month fixed term contract.

Reporting to the Contract & Performance Manager, you’ll ensure the service provider meets all contractual obligations related to performance, quality, and operational standards. Collaboration with external stakeholders and internal teams will be key to driving success.

You will:

  • Monitor and review monthly performance data to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Identify risks and tackle underperformance while proactively seeking solutions.
  • Audit services and quality systems to provide assurance to National Highways and stakeholders.
  • Partner with the service provider to drive customer service improvements and innovative solutions.
  • Manage commercial governance arrangements and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.

About you.

  • Proven experience in managing and improving supplier or team performance.
  • Understanding of technical issues like roadside operational technology or data systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with different stakeholders and convey complex information clearly.
  • Part qualified or equivalent in a Quality Management qualification (e.g. Lead Auditor) or relevant experience of supporting the auditing of contracts
  • Experience in financial account management, including forecasting and budget control.

External candidates will be offered a starting salary at the lower end of the pay scale, while current employees will be appointed in accordance with our established pay policy.
