Job overview
· To lead the delivery of high-quality patient/retail catering services.
· To manage the Ashford retail and patient catering teams.
To assist planning, procure, produce and serve high-quality, freshly made, nutritious and well-presented food and refreshments to meet the needs of our patients, staff and visitors in a safe and well-managed environment.
The role is to work as part of a rota to provide food services from 7am to 7 pm, 365 days per year. Flexibility is essential as cover may be required at short notice.
Main duties of the job
To be responsible for the day-to-day management of patient catering and retail services, to lead & motivate, train and work a long side the team to provide a quality service.
Responsible for the production of high-quality food/drink that meets the Trust’s staff well-being objectives.
To lead the delivery of high-quality Retail Catering Services and Patient catering. To manage the production and development of all retail food items menu and costings.
To assist planning, procure, produce and serve high-quality, freshly made, nutritious and well-presented food and refreshments to meet the needs of our patients, staff and visitors in a safe and well-managed environment.
To be responsible for the implementation of Food Safety and all Health and Safety legislation which is laid out in the Trust Health and Safety Manual, (COSHH, Safety Systems of Work, Risk Assessments Procedures in the selection, use and recovery of cleaning chemicals and manual handling.
Responsible for overseeing the patient catering & retail payroll and dealing with the payroll queries, including reviewing leave and sickness records ensuring all the staff records are up to date.
To lead the training of all the special diets and allergens, support the housekeeping ward servicing staff with portion controls, food hygiene levels, food safety HACCP refreshing as and when needed.

To support the supervisor with the team reporting for duty in good time, clean, tidy and wearing the correct, maintained uniform as supplied by the Trust, maintain a high standard of personal grooming throughout your shift, leading by example.

- Educated to A Level or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- Leadership Management level 3
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant experience in supervising Catering staff
- Manage a small budget of consumables or cleaning materials
- Health safety (risk assessment, SSW, COSHH, HACCP)
- Extensive Experience as a Senior Chef
Desirable criteria
- Ability to use ESR
