Counselling Coordinator – EMDR

The service you will work in….

The Counselling Coordinator-EMDR role sits within the Integrated Student Team and Therapeutic Services at Hestia. The team is led by the Head of Student and Therapeutic Services and is innovative in its development and implementation of therapeutic, trauma informed support for the people that use Hestia’s services. The postholder will be working with women and children who have experienced domestic violence and abuse. You will be liaising with clients and staff who are based in Hestia refuge settings to offer EMDR sessions with a pool of external clinicians.

The post provides support to the Therapeutic Services Lead to assess clients for EMDR therapy(children and adults), liaise with clinicians to deliver the sessions and to track the impact the support has for our service users. You will be required to create promotional materials and deliver workshops to target groups (staff and clients). You will also work closely with our front line refuge staff, manage waiting lists and be able to make sound clinical decisions, with support from Services Lead.

A day in this role looks like….

As a Counselling Coordinator at Hestia, you will play a crucial role in our Counselling and Therapeutic Service. Your contributions will directly influence the lives of our service users, guiding them towards a path of empowerment and independence.

A day will never look the same and some of the things you can expect to do/be responsible for are:

  • Communicate with and represent the counselling team when dealing with external EMDR clinicians 
  • Communicate with Hestia’s Operational Refuge teams to ensure all information into the counselling team is up to date and current
  • Support the ongoing evaluation of the EMDR delivery service including recording on Hestia’s database and service evaluation. 
  • Assessing referred clients for the EMDR therapists.
  • Support the gathering of Routine Outcome Measures and satisfaction to be inputted to the relevant areas.
  • Support the keeping and recording of all DBS checks, insurance details and membership of all clinicians.
  • Support the maintenance of the service spreadsheets.
  • Create and deliver promotional material to aid understanding of the offer for both staff groups (for referrals) and potential clients.
  • Act as a point of contact for staff and clinicians to ensure all emergencies and queries are sent to Therapeutic Services Lead.
  • Maintain the referrals waiting list.
  • Liaise with the Quality Assurance Team to ensure all reporting is in line with organization requirements.

We are looking for candidates who bring a combination of passion, expertise, and dedication to the table. To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • EMDR Therapist-in training or qualified.
  • Counselling qualification (level 5 minimum requirement).
  • Current Membership of BACP(Accred)/UKCP/BPS, etc. 
  • Clinical experience of assessing clients for therapy/EMDR therapy.
  • Able to create and promote awareness/psychoeducation workshops.
  • At least 3 years post qualification experience (in continuous practice).
  • Strong organisational skills and high attention to detail.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills.
  • IT skills including Microsoft, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and web-based systems.
  • Data analysis and report writing skills (ROM’s). 
  • Sound knowledge of current safeguarding legislation (adults and Children).
  • Sound knowledge of the BACP/UKCP/BPS, etc. ethical framework.

Work Pattern: Flexi (Flexi hours Monday – Friday, Core hours 10am – 4pm, Bank holidays not inclusive in holiday allowance) Full-time, Fixed term contract
Full Time Equivalent Salary: £29,595
