How you’ll make a difference
The Strategic Communications team provides advice, guidance and hands-on delivery of professional communications, PR and marketing services across the council. As an Internal Communications Officer, you will support with stakeholder engagement, including change programmes.
Strategic communications bring together campaign communications, media handling, external relations, digital development, internal communications and creative design into a central, business-focused team.
What you will be doing
- Regularly, you will support the planning, development and delivery of internal communications and engagement activities, tailoring activity appropriately to different internal stakeholders.
- It will be your responsibility to coordinate, create and publish informative and compelling content for colleagues, including intranet news items and updates, briefing notes, e-newsletters and presentations.
- To support the smooth delivery of projects within a change programme, you will prepare sensitive and carefully crafted communications activity.
- By producing high quality content, you will keep staff updated, selecting the most effective communications channels to deliver with impact.
- You will support the Senior Internal Communications Officer with communications and engagement activities, including any administrative requirements as well as the wider Strategic Communications team in the event of any emerging crisis/ reputation management situations.
What we need from you
- You will have previous experience in a marketing or communications role, specifically internal communications experience would be desirable, but appropriate external-facing communications experience will also be considered.
- We require you to have exceptional copywriting skills for a range of audiences and formats.
Given the elements of this role, you will be a self-starter, able to work independently and comfortable working at pace whilst maintaining standards. - You will have strong relationship-building skills and will be able to absorb, evaluate and communicate complex information appropriate to the audience.
What you need to know
- This role is hybrid, with a mixture of working at our office in Yate and from home.
Interviews will be held on Tuesday 21st October 2025.
