What does a Learning & Development Partner do at Southwark?

This role plays a crucial role in shaping the future of our workforce within the Housing department. Taking a lead on our comprehensive Learning & Development program, you’ll be collaborating with various services across our Housing teams to design and implement training solutions that meet our current and future needs.

Building and maintaining effective relationships with senior managers, colleagues across the Housing directorate and partners, you’ll ensure impactful and sustainable learning outcomes for our people. Your expertise will be crucial in maximising digital technology to support the council’s strategic learning and development.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Leading on the implementation of the Governments Competence and Conduct Standard, across the Housing Directorate
  • Developing a detailed learning matrix covering all roles within the Housing department, aligning with the Council’s workforce strategy.
  • Planning, delivering, and monitoring training programs that foster behavioural changes across the organisation
  • Providing expert advice to senior managers, HR, Organisational Development colleagues to ensure the successful implementation and embedding of learning programs.

Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for a talented Learning & Development professional who is passionate about developing talent and driving organisational growth. You’ll have a strong understanding of developing programs to support Housing Service roles and technical requirements of services within a local authority or Housing organisation.

You’ll have the proven ability to design and deliver L&D programs that support business-focussed outcomes and align with both short and long term strategies.

Key information to evidence in your application:

  • Experience working as an L&D professional in a large, complex organisation
  • Proven ability to design and deliver L&D programs that support business-focused outcomes and align with both short and long term strategies
  • Skills in interpreting data to prepare and present clear, actionable insights to senior leaders and managers.
