This role is within The Dickson Poon School of Law, King’s College London. It will be also associated with the Institute for Fiscal Studies—the UK’s leading independent economics research institute. 
 
The Dickson Poon School of Law, King’s College London is one of the oldest law schools in England and recognised globally as one of the best law schools in the world. The School was established in 1831 and has played an integral role in the life of King’s since the university was formed almost 200 years ago.

About the role

This role is to support Professor Joe Tomlinson in his work on the Transforming Justice programme, which is led out the Institute for Fiscal Studies and is funded by a £2.5M grant from the Nuffield Foundation. 
 
The research programme aims to advance economic study of the justice system in England and Wales. Specifically, it advances empirical understanding of the justice system, seeks to influence policy and public understanding relating to the justice system, and building capacity for quantitative and economic research on the justice system. 
 
This role will be working directly with Professor Tomlinson across his work on the programme, including conducting research, organising capacity-building events, and engaging with policymakers.   
 
This is a full time post, and you will be offered a fixed term contract for 9.5 months starting in Early November. (The start date can be negotiated for the appointed candidate if needs be).
 
Research staff at King’s are entitled to at least 10 days per year (pro-rata) for professional development. This entitlement, from the  Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers, applies to Postdocs, Research Assistants, Research and Teaching Technicians, Teaching Fellows and AEP equivalent up to and including grade 7.
