Solution Architect 

About the Role 

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Solution Architect to join our established team.
This is a senior, technical role, in which you’ll utilise your technical knowledge to understand and challenge business requirements, accurately translating these into clearly defined IT solutions.
We offer a hybrid working model, meaning our selected candidate will be able to work both from home and from either our Bournemouth or Hitchin offices.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Liaising with colleagues at all levels to plan and shape business ideas, and translate them into written IT solutions, to include technical solution outlines, rough costs and resourcing.
  • Collaborating with business analysts and IT teams to define full solution designs for projects, then providing these to our solution delivery teams for building.
  • Acting as a technical lead on complex projects involving multiple delivery teams.
    Providing IT solutions assurance and technical coordination with third-party suppliers for projects involving third party applications, development and hosting.
  • Incorporating standards, compliance and strategy in all design work, as specified by the solution architecture lead.
    Creating and assessing technology proposals for the architecture Board, and design decisions for the Technical Design Authority.
  • Assessing and communicating architecture risk.
  • Providing solutions using architectural steer, coordination and quality assessment for programmes of work (this may involve coordinating and checking colleagues’ work).
  • Supporting the work of the IT Programme and Project Managers in developing and maintaining a high-quality pipeline of design work for solution development.
About You
Our ideal candidate will…
  • Have experience of working within financial services and/or life and pensions insurance (desirable).
  • Understand both modern and legacy architectures.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience in digital architecture for web, mobile applications and API’s, various architecture programmes such as microservice, cloud and security architecture.
  • Have an understanding of business intelligence and data science.
  • Be familiar with DevOps and agile working, along with offshore partner experience.
  • Be able to carry out application development tasks.
  • Have experience of systems integration, package selection, RFP support, third party SaaS, and using managed service platforms.
  • Demonstrate proven experience of working in an architecture role on projects, providing solution design, project support and delivery of project architecture to drive out cost effective solutions.
  • Showcase excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Effectively work under pressure to meet targets and manage conflicting priorities.
  • Be able to work collaboratively with others.
  • Effectively use architecture frameworks, techniques and methods.
