The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Strategic Account Lead to join our Metering & Data Services sales team on a temporary basis for 9 months.  

In this key role, you will manage a portfolio of complex, high-value public sector organisations, direct customers, and Third-Party Intermediaries (TPIs) – driving new business, nurturing strategic relationships, and delivering market-leading metering and data solutions.

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you will manage a portfolio of public sector organisations, direct customers, and Third-Party Intermediaries (TPIs) to maximise commercial value, driving revenue growth through both new business acquisition and the expansion of existing accounts. You will lead the full sales process from prospecting to contract completion, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure a seamless customer experience.

Using market insight and customer intelligence, you’ll develop compelling, strategic proposals and account plans, while influencing both internal and external stakeholders to shape thinking and build consensus. Staying ahead of market trends, regulatory developments, and industry changes will be key to informing your strategy, and you will act as the voice of the customer, ensuring that solutions delivered are tailored, innovative, and sustainable.

Who you are

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring a strong blend of technical expertise, commercial acumen, and strategic thinking. You’ll have in-depth knowledge of half-hourly AMR metering, DCDA processes, and data visualisation tools, along with a solid understanding of industry compliance and energy market regulations. With a proven track record in consultative selling to public sector and TPI clients, you’ll be skilled in tendering, contract negotiation, and solution selling, with the ability to translate complex data into clear commercial value.

You’ll be confident using data insights to identify new opportunities and develop detailed, strategic account plans. Excellent communication and influencing skills will enable you to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels, while your collaborative approach will help you work effectively with cross-functional teams. Highly organised and process-driven, you’ll be comfortable managing multiple accounts and projects simultaneously, ensuring governance and operational excellence throughout.
