How you’ll make a difference
As an Electrician, you will support the maintenance and erection of all types of street lighting units, including high mast lighting, traffic signs and other types of electrical installations.
What you will be doing
- Daily, you will work on all types of street lighting units, including the installation, wiring and maintenance.
- You will diagnose any faults and carry out the necessary remedial actions to maintain and repair electrical installations.
- Regularly, you will be required to drive and use mechanical plant, this includes lifting platforms, power tools, hydraulic jacks and other machinery.
- It will be your responsibility to ensure the correct utilisation of plant and other resources, including the recovery of salvaged materials and assist with the security arrangements regarding materials, plant and vehicles onsite.
- It will be key for you to comply with all health and safety legislation, codes of practice and authority policies are met at all times.
What we need from you
- You will either hold or be working towards an electrical installation qualification, such as NVQ level 3 or City and Guilds, or currently be working as a semi-skilled trainee.Â
- It is essential that you have the appropriate knowledge of testing, inspection and maintenance of electrical installations.
- You must have an up to date knowledge of health and safety legislation.
- We require you to hold a current driving licence up to 7.5 tonnes.Â
- You must be capable of working both from plant and ladder and at heights up to 15 meters, as well as happy to work in busy highway situations.
- Effective recording of works is important, so you must have good written and electronic communication skills.Â
- You must be prepared to work outside normal hours to meet operational requirements and assist with emergency attendance situations.
What you need to know
- We will consider semi skilled electricians and will offer training.
- You will be required to work outside of normal hours in emergency situations, when a call out fee and overtime is paid.
