About The Team & Role

 

As the Coroner’s Operations Officer you’ll help make a difference to those using the Coroners Service by taking responsibility for the operational management and technical direction of the County’s Mortuary and Coroner’s Court Complex.  You’ll help make the facility a centre of excellence and a venue which displays care, support and sensitivity to those who have cause to use it.

 

We need you to ensure the service runs smoothly on a day-to-day basis and manage our exceptional team of Coroner’s Officers, Anatomical Pathology Technicians and Support Staff.

 

About You

 

To be successful you will need excellent organisational skills to allow you to prioritise workloads and ensure our service levels are maintained. We need your exceptional interpersonal skills and customer-focused nature to help build collaborative relationships with the service’s contacts externally. You’ll be happy working in an autonomous way with a key focus on meeting our health and safety responsibilities. You ideally be able to bring to the role previous experience of managing or leading a team.  

 

About Us

 

The Gloucestershire Coroner’s Court is a purpose built facility which brings together all of the services of the Coroner under one roof. This includes a mortuary, post mortem room, observation area and visitors facilities alongside a large court and jury areas.  Circa 2,000 deaths are referred to the Coroners service each year with over 300 inquests being overseen by the service in 2022.
