The Role and the Team

We’re seeking an experienced Technical Lead to join our Identity team in the technology department.

You’ll play a crucial role in the digital transformation from our legacy PHP platform to a highly scalable platform operating in multiple markets (growing user base + increased complexity). You’ll work with a team of talented developers to modernize applications by rebuilding the product from the ground up, migrating the legacy PHP system and improving through experimentation and A/B testing.

This role involves working in an agile way within cross functional product development teams made up of 4 –5 engineers, Product Managers, Designers and QA’s who have full ownership of their own domain.

Our work is organised into three different workstreams:

Identity – The Identity team’s mission is to onboard users to our platforms, simplifying the journey from sign up to redeeming offers for our members. You’ll be responsible for the core registration and login journeys (backed by AWS Cognito), all the way through to membership management, card approvals and user verification.

Offers – The offer’s team is on a mission to ensure a smooth partner enrolment, including the management of their offers and delivering a smooth journey to discover the best in market discounts for our members. This is supported through the use of GraphQL, NextJs and AWS infrastructure to help provide a speedy and efficient user experience.

Redemptions – Our redemptions process allows us to deliver discount codes swiftly and securely, providing customers with a hassle-free experience (REST API). Experience increased customer satisfaction and operational efficiency as our robust API facilitates real-time validation and tracking of discount codes, ensuring a seamless and rewarding shopping experience for all users.

 

What You’ll Do

    • Line manage, support, coach and nurture engineers to cultivate a proactive and effective team whilst maintaining a strong focus on driving delivery
    • Promote our values of continuous delivery, lean product development and self-empowerment
    • Modernise our application by rebuilding the product from the ground up, with a focus on migrating the legacy PHP system
    • Drive improvements through experimentation and A/B testing to ensure our application remains technologically relevant
    • Take full ownership of your domain, lead and embed change and use your expertise to foster a motivated, collaborative and innovative team culture
    • Task delivery and solution design for complex engineering problems, consistently questioning choices to actively contribute to continuous delivery and improvement
    • Collaborate with the Product Manager to translate the product vision into a technical plan guiding the architectural design and oversee its delivery
    • Investigate business problems and actively participate in designing and coding solutions

     

    What You’ll Bring

    • Experience coaching and mentoring developers on technical skills, effective ways of working, and continuous delivery
    • Extensive experience across our modern technology stack which includes React, Next.js and Typescript 
    • Hands on experience in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) adept at designing, implementing and optimising scalable solutions using tools like Terraform, Ansible or CloudFormation across any cloud platform, preferably AWS
    • Exceptional communication skills within the team and across technical and non-technical stakeholders 
    • Previous experience developing roadmaps and architecture to guide technical and product development
    • Demonstrable experience in guiding experimentation and agile testing practices working together with the product manager to deliver collaborative solutions
    • Demonstratable expertise in working closely with Product Managers to deliver solutions
    • Proven skill in formulating functional software designs that fulfil technical specifications but also complement the overarching product strategies
